Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. His family's first name is Selmon is the eldest of nine kids who were raised by Eufala through Lucious Selmon. In football, he played with his three brothers in Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award as the nation's best lineman. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. The team also took home the national title twice. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy was involved in volunteering for ten hours per week during his time at college. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing with the Buccaneers. Three times he was named All-Pro. He began his business career. In 1988, as an account relations officer at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that the year 1982 was when the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs when he was a student athlete. He captained the 1975 team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
