Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and a businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of a number of novels. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news website has a TV personality as well as a writer and charity donor. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England together with her family around sixteen years of age. In Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. When she was 21, she was president of the famous debating club The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student to do so. She became a conservative syndicated journalist after graduating as well. When The Huffington Post launched a year afterwards, she was able to create an online platform for voice that offered criticisms on political scenarios. Her status as a celebrity helped by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to publish their thoughts on news, politics and other topics. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003 when she ran as an independent candidate in the recall vote in California to replace the then-Governor Davis. She also headed a Detroit automobile project that was fuel efficient. She was listed as 12th in Forbes's list of the most influential women in the media. In the same year, Guardian listed her among the 100 top media figures. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post, and she was made president of the group of media. It included a variety of AOL properties of the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and manager Konstantinos along with his partner Elli Stasinopoulos. She was very close with her father. But it was her relationship to her mother that formed her. She showed leadership traits from the beginning. After the 16th year of her life beginning her education in Cambridge, United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. She joined in the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college as she was the 3rd and only female to be elected president. In 1972 she graduated with an advanced degree in Economics. In the years following the graduation ceremony, she became a TV host and columnist. Also, she appeared alongside Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editing assistance.
