Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the US and is a writer from Greece, a syndicated writer of columns as well as a businesswoman. She's the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television personality and owner of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece, Arianna Huffington moved to England with her family when she was 16 years old. At Cambridge University she earned a MA Degree in Economics. At 21 she became president of the famed debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student who was elected to this position. After graduation she made her name as a conservative syndicated columnist and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice platform that provided critical views about the current political climate. She was able to get many prominent contributors to share their opinions on culture and politics. Arianna first gained notoriety in 2003 as she stood in California's recall vote, in the place of Governor Davis. She was also involved in a Detroit-based project that promoted efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes listed her as one of one of the "most powerful women" within the field of media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 top media personalities in 2009. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. She was then made the head of the AOL media group. It was comprised of several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. They were who was a consultant in management as well as a journalist. They were very close to her father. But it was her bond with her mother that formed her. Through her early period, she displayed leadership skills for which are still prominently known. At the age of 16, she moved over into her home in United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first woman president, and also the only president from outside the country. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. After her graduation, she was a columnist-critic and TV host. Alongside Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
